Effect of Corona on Travel Industry

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

This disease has been declared a pandemic by WHO and the sudden outbreak left the world stranded and put most of the countries under complete lockdown. This lockdown has adversely affected different industries which includes one of the biggest industry i.e. Travel industry.

International flights across different countries are non-operational for an indefinite time and most countries have shut down the domestic flights. Hotels, excursions, and cruises are also closed. All vacations have been canceled by individuals, by government and by all respective authorized departments.
Limited flight services are available which is used only for carrying essential supplies like food and medicines. The world has stopped.

Availability of Coronavirus Testing facility will ensure the timeline of the Airline’s Recovery. If coronavirus testing isn't widely available, then consumers won't feel safe to fly and neither will employees. There is a serious need of setting up some standards at the international level for the Airlines otherwise different countries will have divergent expectations on how carriers must adapt to the pandemic aftermath which will obviously create chaos. It is clearly evident that coronavirus pandemic will bring lasting change to the passenger experience, behavior, and expectation before, during, and after the flight.

A lot of airlines are expecting to become operational by the end of May 2020. But it will all depend on the guidelines and restrictions from the government.
